Just wondering as to the sources for the claim that Portland had ‘many stone circles’. Where is the evidence? Also for Phoenecians living on Portland.

In answer to your question references are supplied in the relevent chapters. The stone circles were seen and recorded by travelling antiquarians, Elizabeth Pearce and Clara King Warry who lived on the island in the 19th century.
